6 Ways to Rent Exercise Equipment for Your Home Gym in the USA

Rent Exercise Equipment With no contracts, no credit checks all rentals include free service, repairs, preventive maintenance & equipment replacements for life.

Gym equipment can be pretty expensive, and it’s hard to find a treadmill or elliptical machine for under $500. Even barbells can get pretty expensive after adding a rack, bench, and various weight plates.

But you don’t need to abandon your dream home gym altogether! Instead of committing to an expensive purchase, how about renting high-quality gym equipment from an online company? Or take a look at your local gym’s social media page and see what short-term rental deals they offer.

Although the availability of exercise equipment varies by location, check out these popular rental companies to see if they deliver in your area.

5. Local Gyms and Studios

If your local gym or favorite fitness studio is temporarily closed, the property may offer equipment rentals during this time. During nationwide shutdowns or extended vacations, this is a strategy many small fitness studios use to stay up and stay in touch with their clients.

An example is Hex box, a fitness facility franchise in Monterey, CA that offers small group classes, CrossFit workouts, and 24-hour gym access. The franchise also offers a temporary rental program that allows you to rent equipment from a location near you.

If you don’t own any of the popular fitness studios nearby (or their equipment is all gone), many also offer free streaming services like Orangetheory or extended free trials like Peloton.

Cleaning Your Rented Exercise Equipment

If you’re renting gym equipment, it’s always wise to give the machines extra cleaning, even if the company has prepared them for you. (Pro tip: Always double-check that your rental company has provided a pre-cleaning for the machine you’re buying.)

Even during shipping and delivery, the equipment can come into contact with unwanted germs, so it’s better to play it safe. Clean or wipe the entire machine with soap and water or disinfectant, recommend the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Be sure to wear plastic gloves when cleaning and wash your hands before and after you finish wiping the machine. When cleaning, pay extra attention to high-touch areas such as handlebars, keypads, or touchscreens, recommends CDC.

If you don’t have a disinfectant on hand, you can make your own by mixing 5 tablespoons of bleach per gallon of water (or 4 teaspoons of bleach per liter of water). If possible, always choose a disinfectant that contains at least 70 percent alcohol.
