Gardener of the Month – Daring Experimenter Jody from Canada

Our “Gardener of the Month” nominations are back! We are happy to introduce our community member Jody, expert gardener from Ontario, Canada. Jody started growing with us back in 2018 and has experimented with lots of plants. We asked Jody some questions about her gardening experience and we can’t wait to share her story with you!

What does gardening mean to you and what role does it play in your life?

Gardening to me is a deeply fulfilling and therapeutic activity. It's a way to connect with nature, nurture living things, and create a sense of peace and accomplishment. Gardening is not just about plants; it's about the joy of watching something grow and thrive under your care.

When did you start growing with us and what has been the highlight of your indoor gardening journey?

I started growing with Click and Grow in 2018, and the highlight of my indoor gardening journey has been the continuous sense of discovery and learning. From germination and pollination, to harvest, each stage has brought excitement and satisfaction, especially when I see the results of my efforts on my plate!

One of the highlights of my indoor gardening journey with Click and Grow has been using the experimental Grow Anything pods. I recently grew a small container variety of peas and spinach using these pods. It's been fascinating to see how well these plants thrive indoors, and the convenience of the Grow Anything pods has allowed me to explore a diverse range of plants beyond the standard selections. This experience has truly enriched my indoor gardening adventure and encouraged me to continue experimenting with different plants in my Click and Grow garden! I’m excited to share that I've just ordered a 30-pack of the experimental pods along with a Sage Green Smart Garden 9 and the sleek and modern Click and Grow stand! This means that soon I'll have three Click and Grow 9 Smart Gardens beautifully displayed on the stand, creating a stunning indoor garden oasis. I can't wait to expand my gardening horizons and continue enjoying the benefits of fresh, homegrown produce right at my fingertips.

Which plants do you enjoy growing the most and why?

One of my favorite plants to grow is catnip for my cats. It's their absolute favorite, and I take joy in knowing that it's coming from a clean and controlled growing environment. Watching my cats enjoy the fresh, homegrown catnip is incredibly rewarding, and I appreciate being able to provide them with a safe and healthy treat right from my indoor garden!

What advice would you give new growers?

My top advice for new growers is to be patient and observant. Gardening is a learning process, and each plant has its own needs. Take the time to understand your plants, observe how they respond to light, water, and nutrients. Be sure to keep an eye on your water level bobber and add water when appropriate.  Since the nutrients are included in each pod, nutrients don't require anything else! Look at the click and grow app to see how many days of nutrients remain.  Don't hesitate to experiment and learn from any challenges you encounter along the way. Enjoy the journey of indoor gardening, and celebrate each milestone and especially each harvest!

Thanks, Jody, for sharing your experiences with us!
